We installed our 3 slide covers with the able help of my Son and Brother-in-Law. Except for some "engineering" on the mounting brackets on one slide, all was straight forward and went easy. They work perfectly and look good. We did this DIY to save $ for future goodies and expenses. Most of all the DW is happy... and when she is happy then everyone is. Love all you DW's out there. Will post pictures of the installation project when I get to them . Still working on posting them.

We are getting ours installed this week. Unfortunately, we have to keep our camper at a storage facility and cannot DIY too much.

We have had covers on all our rigs after we had big problems with our first one didn't. It had lots of leaks caused by water, ice, and vegetation accumulation. It was a learning experience. Thank goodness we didn't have a lot of $ invested in that one. After that we put them on, no problems since. If one didn't have covers installed , it would probably necessitate ladder and brush and rags to clean each time. Me and ladders don't get along, so less time on them the better.
blumoon1998, Yeah I got ya on having it in storage. it is tough do a lot of DIY, but in my $.02 the covers are worth it no matter who does it.

I'm still on the fence about slide covers. I've had my trailer for just a year, and have made it a habit to climb up and sweep the tops as part of my tear-down routine. It has not been a burden so far. I feel that I get added benefit in that I sweep off accumulated dust and water in addition to large debris. Don't know how much of that other stuff would be blocked by covers. I also take that opportunity to inspect the roof and clean it if necessary.

I have not had the slide cover, my parents have. But we were camping in freezing weather this past winter and had ice accumulate on top of the slide and roof, so that was not a time to climb onto it. Ice formed from condensation, not precipitation, so it would have been there with and without the cover. Not the best situation to have it thaw inside, during the drive south.

Interesting observation on having the condensation factor you mentioned ,but haven't had that occur to us having covers on our rigs. I am going to monitor that and see if it happens though.
As far as getting up and cleaning the slides each time with out slide covers, especially when you have 3 or more of them.. well as I get older and a bit more unstable ,less time on a ladder may prolong my life and fewer trips to the E. R. A personal choice for each owner of course.

Jim,
Was your “engineering” on the slide with the outside kitchen? My dealer just informed us that they couldn’t install ours because of the awning. Our 343VIK has an awning over that slide. TBH, I am a little disappointed with my dealer right now as they never called to let me know this. Now I will have slide covers on 2 of the 3 slides. Kind of defeats the purpose if hubby still has to get up there to clean off just the one slide. If I had known, I might have decided to skip the covers.

Blumoon, At least with 2 of the 3 slides covered he only has to clean one. However , yes it is the cover for the outside kitchen that we had to "engineer" to mount it. It doesn't interfere with the awning but it took some adjusting to get "slope" so the water ,etc runs off. We did add stiffener plates on the backside of the slide where the slide mounts are. He I get a chance I will add a couple pics to show that detail, and what we used. Some dealers just don't want to do some of the extra things it takes. Maybe not cost effective for them.

Hi all, I am a newbie here and just bought 2022 Sonic 220VRB and looking to add slide covers. Anybody has a link for which one to buy? Also do we screw everything into the body during mounting.

RE: Slides with awnings on outside wall, (i.e., 343VIK). Has anyone been able to figure out whether a slide topper can be installed on a slide with and outside wall awning, without special engineering or workarounds that may compromise the outside wall of the slide or affect the pitch of the slide topper? One dealer says it can be done, another says it can't.

UPDATE: Answer from KZ regarding the addition of a slide topper OVER the 343VIK slide with existing outside wall mounted awning:
"Unfortunately, no if there is already an awning in place, a slide topper cannot be added."

No need to get up on the roof to clean the tops of your slides. Get a bath towel and a piece of rope long enough to go over your slide out and hang down to the ground. Tie the towel in the middle of the rope. Throw the towel up onto the top of your slide. Pull on each end of the rope to move the towel back and forth to wipe off the top of your slide. Goes quicker with 2 people.
