We just returned from Trip 2 in the 211VRB. On the first trip, about two weeks ago, everything worked fine. But, this past Friday, when we arrived at our campsite and after we completed all hookups we started cooking dinner and noticed that the hot water wasn't hot. Then (duh) I remembered to turn the hot water switch to ON, on the control panel in the bathroom. We checked the water temp in about a half hour and it was still not hot. I checked a few things but everything looked good. We switched to gas and all was well. Does anyone have any suggestions about a possible cause, or should we just take it back to the RV service center? Thanks.

Is it possible that the switch on the water heater was accidently switched off? Not the one on the control panel but the one outside on the water heater itself? Mine is in the lower left corner kind of behind things so it isn't easy to see.

Yep, I checked it and it was on. Frustrating.

I think it's possible we didn't allow enough time for the water to heat up. It's a 6 gallon water heater and I've read online that it could take almost an hour to heat up.

Ours will trip a breaker sometimes when first cut on.

If we are using hot water (multiple showers) I turn on both the electrical and propane. It heats up faster and stays hotter longer.

Good ideas, thanks. I talked to the local RV tech and he said that it may take an hour for the water to heat up on only electric. We leave for a 8 day trip on July 1st and we're gonna hope for the best. Considering that the water heater worked fine on our first trip and nothing changed, except towing it home, I think it'll be fine.

Can you hook it up at home to make sure before you leave?

Rue...Unfortunately no. I don't have a 30 amp electrical service connection. We have 2 bottles of LP so if the water heater doesn't work with electric we will still be able to have hot water on our week long trip. There are several stores nearby that can refill the tanks if we run dry.

Well...Problem solved. After we returned from our 3rd trip we took it to the dealer. Within a day they had it fixed, easy peasy. According to the dealer service department, the switch was wired backwards from the factory. So, evidently, on our first trip the outside switch was set to OFF and the water heater worked as expected. On our second trip we didn't give it enough time to heat up the water and in my investigation I noticed the switch was OFF so I switched it to ON, not knowing that it was wired backwards. On the 3rd trip we gave it plenty of time to heat up but it still didn't heat the water (because, DUH, I turned it off). On our 4th trip, after the switch wiring issue was corrected, the water heater worked wonderfully, and now the switch is ON.
