If the converter is designed to be connected to a 30 amp pedestal, supply wire should be 10 gauge to carry 30 amps. When does the CONV breaker trip? A clamp-on amp meter will tell you what the converter is using. Thanks.. well I dropped it off A&L says they remember telling me that is was 12 gauge. Our camper is a 50 amp STT272VRK but we were connected to our 30 amp with a pig tail and EMS. A&L our dealer in Richmond is going to have the service guys confirm then I'll have to figure out my next steps with Venture ..... Our one year Venture warranty ends the end of November. If connected to a 50 amp pedestal, you need #6 copper wire. Plenty of info on wire size / amp charts.

Been following this. Our VFK is in for the annual inspection for warranty coverage. Told dealer we have had the breaker trip on it a couple times, disabling the 12 volt circuits when hooked up to pedestal. It is 50 amp rig on a new 50 amp pedestal with a P.I. surge protector. Our dealer said they will work on seeing what is going on. Between us here with similar problem, and different dealers working on it , maybe we can get an answer for all of us!

Do you know the size of the wire that is run from front to back?

B&N, I don't know the wire size. That is if you mean the wire leading into the converter. I've not pulled it out to look or check. If it isn't sized right , it looks like it is a wiring design flaw by Venture and could be in many other coaches. I will pass on the tip to the my dealer to check ,and see what they say or what they have learned from Venture and the power center builder.

Well I checked on our camper today - on the converter the breaker tripped again at the dealership (lucky for us the dealer experienced the same and the breaker tripping is getting more frequent). I did check on the wiring and they do not believe that it is the wiring causing the issue. I do have an issue with the front bedroom slide STT272VRK so it might be connected to the converter breaker tripping. On our front slide when closing it, it closes with the panel button pushed but no clicks. I have to push the panel button a second time to get the clicks. So they are doing more testing. My issues always seem to be 12 volt related. I have asked that if the dealer does replace the converter (with Venture warranty approval) to replace it with an upgraded one that allows for lithium batteries (which we would pay for the difference if it happens). More to come.

The 12 volt wires should always be a minimum of 10 gauge. 12 gauge is only rated for 20 amps at short lengths. Less the longer the wire run is (which is true of any gauge size wire).

Camper is home today Oct 14, 2021... Venture approved the converter to be replaced so we have a converter. Camping shortly so we will be putting the electrical through testing. Hopefully this is the final piece to our challenges. We did ask if we could upgrade to a converter with lithium ability but Venture only will warranty and replace with like parts. So we'll handle it later when adding solar to the TT. Took almost a year to get through the electrical challenges (took forever for them to realize the IRV panel needed a software upgrade). We did grab the camper and still camped this year. So glad we got it a year earlier than our planned long trips.
