Huge KZ Venture trailer recall.
KZRV, L.P. (KZRV) is recalling certain 2018-2022 Camplite, Confluence, Connect, Connect SE, Connect Lite, Durango, Durango Gold, Durango Half Ton, Durango Sport, Durango 1500, Quicksilver, Sonic, Sonic X, Sportsmen, Sportsmen FW, Sportsmen LE, Sportsmen SE, Sportsmen Sportster, Sportster, SportTrek, SportTrek Touring, Spree, Stratus, Venom,
and Venom V Series RVs equipped with Winntec model 6020 two-stage propane regulators. The regulator may fail, causing an increase in propane pressure.
Increased propane pressure can enlarge the flames in gas appliances, increasing the risk of a fire. The potential number of RVs affected is 34,345.
All together, 125 different KZRV products are involved in the recall.
Remedy Dealers will replace the regulator and pigtail hoses, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 26, 2021. Owners may contact KZRV customer service at 1-800-768-4016 ext. 154 or 153. KZRV’s number for this recall is KZ-2021-05.
Notes Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153).

I would have thought that Venture would be the first to post a notice of the recall on the Venture Family Forum to notify the owners, their customers, of a potential safety issue.

I called KZ. Person asked for my VIN number, then she asked where I heard about the recall. This forum I said. She to contact my dealer. I said they are 375 miles away, and useless. She said letters hadn't been sent out yet and I should wait for a letter. She also said KZ doesn't have replacement parts anyway.
So let me understand the situation, there's a potential safety hazard with propane. I have to wait over a month to find out if I'm affected. In the meantime I can risk using my Stratus and my life. Really!
I looked at my regulator. There's a white plastic piece (cap) slid on from the bottom of the regulator covering up the model information. The piece is on so as not to be removed. On the white plastic piece is written Model 6000. Now that seems strange to me. What information regarding model number is that plastic piece covering up that's on the regulator itself?

The white plastic piece comes off fairly easily. You can either spread the two ears on the side and slide it down, or slide it down part way and then pry one side off and swing it off. Here's photos of my regulator and where the date code is.

From what I can see from other manufacturers that already issued the notices, it appears that 'older' regulators are affected. I saw the following: N 17 XX, N 18 XX and N 19 XX. To me that means that ones with date codes that start with 20 or 21 SHOULD be safe. Will wait for the official word, though. The link I saw this on was: static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2021/RCLRPT-21V425-3062.PDF

Any news on when this regulator is supposed to come in? Going on our 1st week long camping trip in July (everything else has been long weekends) and would like to be able to use our propane for cooking without the worry of putting ours and our pups lives in danger if we do. Super worried.

Via email with KZ support we replaced ours and got our check from them. Just uploaded pictures to them of the old valve with model and date, new valve number and receipt.

My post above was Sept 15, 2021. I'm still waiting for a letter. In late September I went to Camping World and purchased a new regulator. Very inexpensive. I installed it myself in 15 minutes. I figured my life (faulting regulator and resulting leak/fire) was worth the small price of a new regulator; and waiting for a letter I believed would never arrive.

I received an email on 12/13/2021 from KZ stating that my request for reimbursement for the propane regulator that I purchased was approved. I'm still waiting for a check. If they don't pay you back, then you pay for the regulator out of pocket.

I did our deal completely online, got a check about 2 weeks after submitting the info. I corresponded with justinzimmerman@KZ-RV.com. He was very helpful.

So Im trying to understand this whole recall situation... 1.Do we or do we not wait for the letter to let us know the part is available because on the Original letter they sent in Oct it stated they were going to send another letter to let us know that the part is available. Am I to understand the part IS available already? I was never sent the letter stating it is. We have a Venture Stratus 2019 and I verified by looking that the defective regulator is on our trailer. We have an appt on 3/5 to bring our trailer in to get the regulator replaced. 2.Do we still take it in even though its not verified the part is avail? 3.If so then where do I find the website to request reimbursement after the work is completed? I already checked out KZ-RV.com but I didn't see our Make/Model there so I'm not sure where to submit or how to submit or even what to submit for that matter. I just need some clarity. Thanks, and sorry so lengthy.
