I've got a 2020 Venture Stratus SR231VRB. It's supposed to have a 'walk on roof', which as I thought meant you could get up there to inspect things, make repairs, etc. What I don't know is how much weight the roof can carry. I'd like to install a new Maxxair fan, and to do that I need to get onto the roof. This weekend I took out the plastic flange covering the hole of the existing vent and got to see what the interior of the roof looks like. I weigh about 270 lbs, and the thought of walking on this roof makes me a little nervous. I don't think I'm going to break through, but it seems entirely possible might break.
I did note in my manual that the rear ladder is only good for 200 lbs, so I can't use that. But does that weight carry over onto the roof?

I would try to reach it from the side if you can. I put a MaxAir cover over my bathroom fan from the side but did need to lean over a bit.

Got an answer from the manufacturer:
"We advise to not walk on the roof, if at all possible, meaning if the repair or worksite can be reached from a ladder or the use of a roof scaffold then please utilize those options.
During the warranty period, it is best if maintenance is done by your local dealership so its documented in case of an issue. Your 2020 Stratus may still fall within your 1-year warranty period.
If the repair or replacement requires you to walk on the roof, the most important thing to be concerned about, after your personal safety, is weight distribution. To properly and carefully do that, use a piece of plywood to walk on, and keep the weight limit below 250 lbs. These are not rated or technical specs, but a reference to use the best caution possible and help prevent damage to the roof.
Please be aware that we have not rated the roofs for maximum weight load. The construction of the Venture Stratus roof consists of 16-inch on-center rafters covered by 1/2-inch plywood.
KZ does not cover damage to the roof related to improper use, and it is difficult to prove that the cause of a hole or leak in the roof should be covered by anything other than insurance."
