Our 231VRL has an RV Queen bed that folds up around 1/2 way up the bed so one can access the storage area under the bed. We had a lot of issues with the 2x2 stapled frame coming apart at the joints, so I've been gluing and using screws when I can. One thing that I haven't been able to fix permanently is that the sides are thin plywood that are stapled to the frame. No matter how I attach this, the pressure built when closing the bed eventually pushes this plywood (and the staples, nails, whatever) holding it to the 2x2 out. I'm thinking of drilling some 1" vent holes along the sides to alleviate this issue. Has anyone else had this issue? Do y'all think this will work?
TIA

jimjr, you could take another 1 x 2, add it to the top of the existing ply on the outside, (you won't see it anyway) thereby sandwiching the panel between the two and use some screws to secure this to the top. In addition it would give the bed a wider area to land on. pre-drill with a small bit so as not to split either the new piece of lumber or the existing one.

Vent holes would work on the top, bottom, or sides. Notching the 2x2 on top would work. Closing it slower would work.
