OK, so was out this last weekend, and for the first time we decided to watch the news while sitting at the dinning table. Of course that meant I had to extend the TV around the wall to watch. In so doing, it snapped off the HDMI end going into the TV. There was too short of cable to move the TV that far. Back at home now, I removed the false wall next to the radio and found why it was too short. There was 3' coiled up of the HDMI cable sitting next to the radio and only 14" at the TV. Think someone didn't check before the ceiling was attached to it's frame during manufacture. Oh, the fun of repair. Already ordered the new HDMI end will replace when it comes in. Just one more thing to look at before you move the TV the first time.

Wouldn't it be easier to just replace the cable rather than the end on the cable?

Wouldn't it be easier to just replace the cable rather than the end on the cable? Way easier said than done. The existing cable is ran through the ceiling and roof material in a cut out path in the foam insulation. If you did try to pull it through it could brake down the foam insulation and push the ceiling away from the roof material. Unfortunately, I have no other option. I suppose I could run a new line down and through the floor, but then I would have to remove the material on the bottom of the trailer for a path to the front where the TV is and again up through the floor and wall. Wow, that seems crazy already. Changing the plug is not as difficult as one may think. Yes there are 19 wire that need to be fixed to a new plug, but if you take your time it will be fine. I could also take it back to the dealer as it could be a warranty problem. But.....I take care of my own fixes, I can guarantee they are better than the dealer service departments.

I haven't used my radio since I bought the trailer. I use my iPhone and a wireless Bluetooth woofer for music outside. If you have satellite radio on one of your vehicles it's free on your phone.

My two trailers have had the DVD/Stereo right next to the TV with the HDMI cable just coming through a hole in a cabinet/wall.

My dvd/stereo is 15 feet away from the tv. TV is in bedroom and stereo is in the kitchen. The cable in the ceiling is probably looped around studs to hard to replace.

So I received the new HDMI end this last week. Spent a day running the existing line out and marking down where all the existing wires left will go to the the 20 inputs of the new plug. Then spent another day cutting, soldering ends, laying out the way I'll need to lay the cable so there aren't too long or too short pigtails to work with. Finished late this afternoon and got a DVD to put in the radio and test it out. I was overjoyed to see it work without a go back. There is a lot of wires and five sets of those wires are the same color just a different color shield. So one more project completed and working. The five sets each have 3 wires, Red, White, and Earth Ground. Each set is wrapped with a different color aluminum shield, then there are 4 wires that are separate for all else. Here is a sample of what it looked like when I started.
