New trailer for us as of August 2022. Finally ironing out the “little issues” but one troubling issue is the amount of condensation that builds up on the star-gazer now that the outside temps have dropped and we are heating the trailer. The water (condensation) pools on the metal window frame overnight and then slowly drips over and down to the mattress. This window has already been removed and the seals changed due to leaking from the exterior when it rained. That issue is corrected! The wall around the head of the Murphy bed is very cold this fall season and does become damp in certain areas as well. Has anyone else had these issues and found a good solution?!

I live in the PNW, so dew is plentiful, I leave two towels below the front window. But to that purpose I have not had any problem with condensation - as yet anyway

Thanks for the reply! I’m sure I’m not the only one with this issue …..but no one is stepping forward! The condensation wasn’t an issue in the milder (warmer) temps but once the temp dropped at night - wow, there was condensation on that front window. Also the area around the head of the bed is cold ….. have you experienced that? The temps dropped down to -5 C at night, not terribly cold, but cold enough for my husband to put on a hat to sleep!

Ventilation is the key to removing moisture before it condensates. Tenting in the single digits, the tent windows had to be open so the tent walls would not be wet in the morning when you wanted to pack up to move on. You may have to crack a window close to that end and run the restroom vent fan. Windows, single pane are the worst, are just clear heat exchanges that condensate on the cold side. The greater the temperature difference, the more condensate. That's why the AC coils have condensate drains.

Yup …. All that makes sense. We did leave a window open about 1 inch plus the BR fan turned on! Still ….lots of condensation!

You would need a dehumidifier.
