I've been full time camping in my RV since the end of June. So far I am very pleased with my camper. I'e only had 1 minor issue where the connector for the heat in the theater seats was not connected.
I will be boondocking a few days on the next leg of our journey and would like to sanitize the fresh water tank. I have done this before with gravity feed systems where you can use a funnel to fill the tank but on this camper the tank is filled with the pressurized water connection. Is it just a matter of adding a chlorine solution to the pressure connection with the valve in the tank fill position and then topping the tank with the hose connected and the valve still in the tank fill position? To drain the solution would I just use the low point valves with the tank being filled with fresh water?
Any help/thoughts appreciated.

On page 54 of the 2022 "Owners Manual" about the "Fresh Water System".
S – Siphon hose: To draw liquid antifreeze or sanitize solution.

The diagram on page 54 does not accurately show the setup on the camper as there is no gravity feed on the tank. The pump only pumps into the the hot and cold water lines not into the fresh water tank. The flow from the pump would need to be reversed to get the solution to the tank, unless I am totally not getting the system. Page 55 explains how to sanitize the system but again they use the syphon to sterilize the lines to the faucets but do not explain how to do the fresh water tank for the system on the 272VRK which does not have a gravity feed port.

Sounds like another poor design decision, by the manufacture to cut cost and increase production, without thinking through the consequences for the end user.

I just connect my water hose to the fresh water intake connection and fill the tank almost full. I disconnect the water hose from the trailer and hold it up about the connection and add 1 cup of bleach reconnect the hose to trailer and turn on the water agin to get the bleach into the tank. I leave it it there for a few hours, I then pull the main fresh water dump valve (not the low point water lines) and dump all the water out, repeat again, and then 3rd time I don't add any bleach I just dump again to rinse the bleach out. Oh I also run the pump with the bleach in the water, I let some water run out of all the sinks, shower and outside shower faucets to get the bleach in all the water lines to sanitized. When on the the last rinse I open up all the faucets again to get all the bleach out. If after all the dumping and your water taste like bleach I would fill the fresh water tank again and flush all faucets.

Thanks for the information. I was hoping for an easer solution than getting the chlorine into that city connection/hose. I guess that is the only solution. Even though we will be taking our own drinking water and we use a Brita for that I still wanted to make sure the tank is sanitized. Thanks again.

I never drink or cook with water from the fresh water tank but you still have to keep it clean. When I added bleach to the fresh water tank I kept the water hose attached to the trailer and remove the other end of hose from house spigot, I poured the bleach down the water hose and then reconnected it back to to the spigot turn on water and the bleach flows down the hose into the trailer.

I never drink or cook with water from the fish water tank but you still have to keep it clean. I'm assuming "auto-correct" had something to do with this sentence. That is why the "edit" button is so important. I use it a lot.

Hydrogen Peroxide is a much better sanitizer with no odour or aftertaste

The recommended mix for sanitizing with hydrogen peroxide is 50/50 with water. I think I will stick with 1/2 cup of bleach instead of 18 gallons of extra-high strength food-grade hydrogen peroxide. NOT An Alternative Solution There is much rumor and myth in the RV world that you can disinfect a fresh water tank using hydrogen peroxide (the stuff you can buy off-the-shelf at the store). The bottle of 3% hydrogen peroxide that you likely have in your RV or house won’t do the job—it is not a strong enough solution. Even if you could fill the fresh water tank with the 3% hydrogen peroxide, it wouldn’t do the disinfecting job you need. The higher concentrate required to complete the disinfectant is only sold to authorized recipients—chemical companies, school systems, industry, etc.—and is only available at chemical-supply houses. That concentrate may be as high as 50%—significantly stronger than the off-the-shelf bottle available at your local store. Plus, when using the highly-concentrated solution, there is a specific process required to neutralize the level of hydrogen peroxide after disinfecting to make the tank safe for normal usage. I won’t go into that process here. So, just disregard the rumor about cleaning your fresh water tank with hydrogen peroxide. www.aboutrving.com/rv-topics/cleaning-the-fresh-water-system/
