How much water came out when you opened the drain valve?

I have the same problem with my trailer. On mine water backflows through the water pump and a check valve into the freshwater tank. Luckily, I have a valve there that I can close to stop the flow into the freshwater tank. The valve is one of the valves that is used for winterizing. I just leave it closed until a need to use the water pump.
