I bought a new truck to pull my ST272VRK and I found out the hard way that if I turn too sharply, the camper will kiss the back quarter panel. My question is, how reliable are hitch extensions? Or should I get a new Reese anti-sway hitch?

So much missing information. What truck did you buy? What's the tow rating? Tow package? What hitch are you using now? A hitch extension affects the tongue weight capacity, tire and rear axle loading, etc. www.visualsc.com/hitch_calc.htm

A hitch extension will add more leverage on the hitch just like when folks add wheel extenders outside their fender wheels it put additional pressure on the axle or your hitch. Maybe an inch or too won't hurt depending on your tow weight and what your truck can handle. My 22ft Sonic Lite was only about 4200lbs fully loaded and my truck was rated 8400lbs for towing so I had plenty of room for additional weight or in your case extend my hitch a little would not hurst. It's all about the numbers.
