Long post...in October 2020, hubby and I bought a 2017 Ford F150 ecoboost in anticipation of upgrading our TT. In December 2020 we bought a 343VIK (our dream camper). All numbers under, but just barely. Took our first trip last month and while everything was ok, I did not feel comfortable. Truck was “squirrelly” and we both could definitely tell we were pulling a 38ft sail. He was thinking to add airbags to help, but being the loving, caring wife that I am.......(hubby is giving me the eye roll) Fast forward to today...I am ready to pull the trigger (read: let him buy 🙂) a 2021 Ford F250. We have run all the numbers 15 times, but figured it wouldn’t hurt to have more eyes on these. Truck is 6.2l V8, 3.73. Payload = 3210, Towing capacity = 12,500. We got these numbers confirmed from a VIN search through Ford. TT = 11,000 fully loaded and tongue weight is 1160. I know we cannot get truly accurate numbers without weighing, but just want to make sure we are buying enough truck for our camper. Is there anything you see that would raise a red flag?
Edit to add: we are weekend warriors and will make one, maybe 2, longer trips a year usually no more than 4 hours from home. It’s just the hubby and I with our 2 fur babies.

I'm pulling the 2021 Spottrek 317VIK with a 2015 Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi. Similar weight. Pulled it from Indiana to Florida and back without any problems. I believe that the biggest key is a properly configured and installed Weight distribution system. Now, while I'm no expert, sometimes the roads are not very level and have regular rises that seem to be magnified by the speed and travel rig you are driving, and thereby amplifying the vibration, causing significant issues. Varying the speed typically helps with this. I'm sure someone else can either blow this to pieces, or perhaps provide a more scientific explanation. -- Again, I'm no expert, but this is what it appears like to me. Feel free to correct me and tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Just my $.02, but Happy Trails to you. 3/4 ton pickups should have no problem pulling Venture rigs as long as the hitch receiver is correctly rated. Lots of folks out in the world pulling heavier rigs than these, seemingly with no real issues except when there is "pilot" error, over driving , or severe conditions where no rig should be on the road to begin with. Any truck can usually can be modified with springs, air bags, power and transmission enhancements, etc., to add to the towing experience though. Bottom-line, I think you will be ok with that truck. As a disclaimer, we are a bit overkill with our Venture now with our 3500HD dually Duramax and airbags. But that is what we pulled our old 17,000 lb. 5ers with.
