Hi,
Just joined the family after purchasing a 2021 281VBH which is also our very first TT. We visited multiple dealers in our area and the Stratus just felt more solid and the build quality seemed better. With that said, is there anything we should double check/replace before taking her out on our maiden voyage?
TIA

Make sure you can run the water heater (on propane) and furnace without setting off the CO detector. It takes some time for construction residual material to burn off. Also, on my Sonic, just about every plumbing connection that was a twist-on fitting (such as water line to back of toilet and faucets) was only finger tight or even less. Bump the hose connected to the fitting and water would spray out. I tightened all those fittings to finger tight + 1/2 turn with pliers to stop all the leaks.

What tool should I bring for my walk thru to check the connections? I feel I can do this while I am looking at everything.

What tool should I bring for my walk thru to check the connections? I feel I can do this while I am looking at everything. Probably a small pair of Channellock pliers. Make sure they will open to at least 1 1/8". Make sure the dealer has the camper hooked up to power and water so everything can be checked. Open the faucets to purge the lines and look under the sinks and at the drains for drips. Check toilet operation. Check all fans, the AC, awning, lights, tongue jack, water pump (you may have to disconnect city water to lose the pressure so it will run), etc. Run the heater, stove, and water heater on gas. Run the refrigerator on all power sources (most are just 12vdc now because it's cheaper for the manufacturer).

Your hatch or tailgate might hit the front smart jack motor. I had to turn my jack 90 degrees to avoid from hitting the hatch of my car and later when I bought a 1/2 ton truck to pull it the tail gate would hot the jack. It took me about 45 minutes to dissemble the jack head drill 2 more holes and reattached, works perfect now. Always make sure all your gray, black and fresh water tanks are empty when towing. I usually keep about 5 gallons of water in my fresh water tank for those emergency pitstops along the way. We use extension curtain rods in the kitchen cabinets and refrigerator to keep things from fall over or out. Our kitchen is in the realr so it gets a lot of bouncing.
