Hello everyone. We just recently placed a deposit on our new 302VRB and we are very excited! Immediately after taking delivery of our trailer we are planning on having weight distribution/sway control installed. The idea was to create a forum and hear others comments about their experiences. I'm thinking about buying ProPride hitch? What is your take on this topic?

Well....the second (or really the first) half of your combination vehicle is the vehicle towing the trailer which we know nothing about. The ProRide is like $3,000?!? Many people recommend Equalizer hitches in the $700 - $800 range. www.equalizerhitch.com/store/hitchesI would look at the 1,400/14,000 lb equalizer hitch for no more than $780.

While we have been pretty happy with our Blue Ox, I have been researching the Hensley and Propride and the 100% refund if not satisfied is tempting. Yes, they are extremely pricey. However, from what I read they completely eliminate sway. Not just assist with controlling, but actually eliminate it. According to the site, it changes the towing experience of a TT to more of a 5th wheel experience. Most owners have said that their dealers won’t deal with them if they have to take their TT in for service and the learning curve for hitching is a little steep. One comment complaint has been the difficulty of having to hitch if you are not completely straight or level.

Hello everyone! Thank you for the comments. I should have mentioned I have a 2018 Chevy 2500 z71 with a gas engine. Here's some numbers: 4:10 gear ratio, 2737 combined weight cargo, 14100 max trailer weight, 21100 GCWR. Since is just me and my spouse I don't think that would be a problem. I did all research necessary in regards to different brands of wdh and blue ox would be my next option. I understand the price is high and I would also consider the PP 3p Lot Bar with locking plate in case I have to bring the tt in for service. I figured if I am going to spend some 600+ on a nice wdh I might as well buy something that is supposed to eliminate any possibility of sway. Our travel plans include places known for high winds so already thinking ahead of any possibility. Learning how to connect and disconnect will definitely be a leaning curve but practice makes perfect. I haven't heard anything from our dealer in regards to if or when they will start assembling our rv so plenty of time to research things. Once again thank you for the comments.

Linda, we did get the ProPride as our hitch. I really like how it tows and feels much more stable to me than the old weight distribution and friction anti-sway units we used before. It is very pricey ,but I'll never have to buy another one. We got it on the recommendation of a old timer RV'er we know. He touted the benefits of his Hensley Arrow, but when I researched and found that Hensley made big upgrades, ( there is a backstory available about why ProPride came about) and came up with the ProPride, I was sold. Even our old timer friend is impressed. We're lighter in the wallet ,but very pleased. As an aside ,it does take a few tries to get used to the hitching and unhitching routine ,but gets easier each time. Also get ready to to have people who have never seen one, ask questions ,etc., just like people who see our Venture rigs for the first time.
