This is a relatively nice and well-run campground just outside Crozet, VA which is sorta halfway between Charlottesville and Waynesboro, also not far from Wintergreen. Easy access off US 250 and not far from I-64. Best part about this area is the number of breweries, wineries, and awesome places to eat. Devil's Backbone and Pro Re Nata (PRN) are our favorites. Crozet is a very cool town with lots of small-town attractions. Misty Mountain itself has lots of amenities and activities, and many types of campsites. There is a fairly flat lower section nearest the highway which is pretty tight and packed full... I would not recommend unless that's your jam. You have to go a quarter mile or so uphill to get to the sites at the top, and there are cabins there as well. Lots of hiking trails so that's good for getting out away from things. The sites at the top of the hill aren't so jammed together but our first site was about 8-10" off level so we had to move... We can only handle about 4". I would recommend sites on Deer Path if you can get them... It's a deadend and sites are all back-in, but do-able. Restrooms were decent but showing some age. www.mistymountaincampresort.com/Our daughter and SIL live outside Crozet, so this will probably be our regular spot when we go for a weekend visit.
