The wife and I are new 231VRL owners. Ours has the Furrion 7 cu ft 12vdc fridge and the solar package. About to take it on our second trip and in preparation, I plugged it in to the house over the weekend and (among many other things) started up the fridge last evening. Since we live in a community with an HOA and I can’t keep it in my driveway, around 11pm, I set the fridge to “off grid”, unplugged the trailer from my house and moved it to the “sanctioned” RV parking in our community. The battery was connected and the cut off switch was “on” and the Sun was in and out here all day- enough that I was surprised when I went to the trailer this evening and found that its totally dead.
In essence, the only thing that was on was the fridge. It was around 70 here. The fridge manual says it should run fine that way but obviously It’s not. What an I doing or reading or understanding wrong?
Thanks!

What kind of battery do you have and what is the Ah (amp hour) rating? I am assuming it's a deep cycle Marine/RV battery. Is the battery new? Hopefully you'll get it figured out.

We have a 2021 190vrb with the solar ‘package’ which is only a 100 watt solar panel. This is considered a trickle charge and you need at least 200 watts of solar panels to be useful from what we’ve been told. But ours has the regular fridge so I couldn’t tell you about consumption…..

It’s a new marine/RV deep cycle battery. 550 cca 690 mca 140 rc. I’ve had it around a month. Oh, and the fridge is the 8 cu ft that the label says is 12vdc 11amps.

Lead acid batteries should never be discharged beyond 50%. So 11 amp draw is pretty significant. Granted the fridge won't run the whole time, however each time the compressor kicks on there is a much higher momentary amp draw. The is other parasitic draw from detectors, Soundsystem and etc. I have two 12v 140ah batteries in parallel and I can safely run my 10 cu. Ft. 12v fridge and other parasitic draws from dawn to dusk.

I am curious why you didn't use the LP option instead of 12VDC. Does your fridge run both LP and 12VDC. In prepping for a trip, I use the shore power to get the fridge cold and switch to LP for a longer than 4hr ride to campsite. That way I am still charging the camper battery (Duracel AGM (marine) deep cycle as we drive. I have not done the overnight thing without shore hookup, but the RV tech said gas is stable for longer pull trips.

This isn’t a dual-option fridge. It’s 12VDC only Furrion FCR08DCGTA-BL. There is an “Off-Grid” setting for when “grid power is not available”. Per the manual, during travel the unit can be operated at normal temperature setting. It does run fine then— the only issue I have is when it’s on this “Off-Grid” setting and am running on solar.
