Ya facebook... Everyone is trying to figure out what units are affected. KZ is on the list. I don't think all the information is out yet as the letters aren't even going our until July. I think more information will be available in the coming weeks. EDIT:Someone posted a link but I can't seem to paste it here... I think it's the same recall. We have the sporttrek touring and it's not list but sporttrk is... hmm RVTRAVEL posted this: KZRV, L.P. (KZRV) is recalling certain 2021-2022 KZRV SportTrek, Sonic, Stratus, Connect, Sportsmen, Sportsmen SE, Sportsmen Classic, and Sportsmen Sportster fifth wheels and travel trailers. The quick disconnect fittings in the LP gas system may be cracked, causing a gas leak. As many as 14,524 RVs may be involved in the recall. A gas leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire, which can lead to major property damage and injury. Remedy Dealers will replace the fittings, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 30, 2022. Owners may contact KZRV customer service at 1-800-768-4016 ext. 154 or 153. KZRV’s number for this recall is KZ-2022-02. Notes Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov. FYI: Sketchy info... some people think it's the quick disconnect for propane tanks but please monitor the recall. And mentioned for now use soapy water to see if it bubbles. We have the 2021 272VRK and we don't have the quick disconnect on our propane tanks so we're thinking at this point that we're not affected.

Pertaining to this recall I traded in my old camper to buy my SportTrek touring edition
2 weeks ago, I received an email from amazon, about a recall on a quick disconnect valve. I bought and installed on my old camper to plug in a propane extension hose to run a stove cooktop.
I think they might be talking about those valves; they look like air hose quick connections. Something was said about the porosity of the metal, and when torqued down. the brass material can crack.

Per RV Travel: Federal Recall personnel at NHTSA, the federal agency in charge of vehicle safety recalls, announced the fittings were made by Texas-based Flex Tech, which has a plant in Goshen, Indiana, with contaminated brass that can result in LP gas leaks, which can lead to a fire. www.datanyze.com/companies/flex-tech/346336486What are Flex Tech’s primary industries? Flex Tech’s main industries are: Business Services, HR & Staffing Not sure why they are making brass gas quick disconnects. I'm not buying the contaminated material. No company buys 2 years worth of material to make their products. Sounds more like a design or manufacturing quality control issue. Multiple people on multiple assembly lines had to know about the issue. Word to installers was probably to "just snug the fittings", because they crack if you tighten them right. Factory should have been doing material and product sampling on a regular basis.

This one is for the quick disconnect: RV Quick Connect Recall RCLRPT-22V289-2467.PDF (210.28 KB)
Reading through the recall document I see no mention of Flex-Tech. According to the NHTSA, Part 573 Safety Recall Report 22V-289 Page 3: The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Description of Defect: Description of the Defect: These vehicles may be equipped with quick connect couplers supplied to KZ by Enerco Group, Inc. Enerco has issued a recall for these fittings. FMVSS 1: NR FMVSS 2: NR Description of the Safety Risk: The defective fittings may crack and leak, causing a risk of fire. Description of the Cause: According to the manufacture, some of the brass components may have porosity, contamination, and carbon. Identification of Any Warning that can Occur: The crack in the fitting may be visible. Supplier Identification: Name: Enerco Group, Inc. Address: 4650 W. 160th Street Cleveland Ohio 44135 The 2nd recall for propane devices is for the regulator: RV Regulator Recall RCLRPT-21V670-5141.PDF (218.08 KB) There is no mention of Flex-Tech in that document either. The supplier is from China - Chen Fong (big surprise). Involved Components: Component Name 1: WinnTec - 2 stage propane regulator Component Description: Propane regulator with supply hoses Component Part Number: Winntec Model Number 6020. Supplier Identification: Component Manufacturer Name: UFP Distribution Address: 2701 Ada Drive Elkhart Indiana 46514 For those of us with RVs that were purchased used I wonder how we are to get resolution for this?

For those of us with RVs that were purchased used I wonder how we are to get resolution for this? You should contact KZRV (see below). I recommend you also register with KZRV that you are the current owner so that you receive any future recall letters that affect your trailer. [/quote]

Just received this letter from KZ today. Since my Sonic is already at the dealer for some warranty issues, I sent them an email to get this done too. I wonder if this is the quick connect fitting at the rear passenger side or somewhere else.

Got our letter yesterday. Called dealer, he said bring it in at 8:30am today. He'll determine whether or not, ours is one of the affected units. If it is, he said he'll have it in and out in less than 20 mins.

Followup. Dealer replaced both quick connect brass fittings and gave us the hose for the grill, that was supposed to have been in the trailer on delivery. And yes, we were in and gone in less than 20 mins. There were many other brand trailers all streaming into the dealership for this same recall.

Received our letter on Saturday the 12th. It was on the quick disconnect LP fittings. I assume this is either the one for the griddle in the outdoor kitchen or the one at the back for a gas grill. Since my dealer informed me today that they can't get to my 20 minute fix until September 2nd I guess I just wont use these two fittings and hope that they are the ones involved...

The way I read the recall, your fittings don’t have to be used to crack. You may want to try to get them to fit you in much sooner as this is a **safety** recall.

I went to my dealer June 27th. to talk to them about somethings else. that day they told me that the quick connect fittings will not be sent to the dealerships. until you supply a picture to the dealer of the fitting/s, with the manufacturer's name visible. they will turn the photos in, with your trailer information. and the fitting/s will then be shipped to the dealer.
