We have had our 2022 SportTrek Touring 272VRK for about four months now and have noticed that after emptying the grey water and black water tanks, the iRV control panel still displays 2/3. Without doing anything, later in the day it will show empty. This is our first RV so being a newbie, I just wanted to know if this is normal or should it have gone back to empty. I have a boating background where after pump-out the yacht tank indicators return to empty immediately.
Thoughts?
Gerald

I quit trusting tank level indicators a long time ago. I do my tank dumping routine and am confident that I've emptied the tanks, regardless of my tank level indicators.

I dump all the tanks when they are full. If I'm leaving for home and then putting the trailer back in storage for several weeks I will spend about 30 minutes really giving the black tank a good flush and use the in-tank sprayer flush system about 10 times. Once the black is dumped, I will the tank with using the sewer flush system. I fill up the black tank about 1/2 to 3/4 full being careful not to over fill the tank and cause a messy smelly disaster. I will flush about ten times. Even when you see the water is now running clear there is still debris and TP stuck in the tank. I have a snake with camera I can fish down the toilet and see the debris still stuck to the sensors. It's best to use Scott toilet paper because it will disintegrate. I have done test experiments on 50 different toilet paper brands and they are not what they advertise, even the ones label RV safe or septic tank safe may not be as good as they claim. The wife may be stuck on a special soft TP at home and refuses to use anything else and that will clog up your sensors in the black tank. Some people try to limit how much TP they drop down the toilet. The more of the wrong type of TP the more work to clean the tank and sensors. It is what is!

Tank walls get slimed and complete the level circuit for the sensors. I also quit using the black tank flush because I found the anti-siphon valve, under the restroom sink, was spitting water every time water was applied to flush the tank.
