I was looking around as to what was next, and remembered the way they installed a piece of trailer wall material as a protection device for the water pump. I have changed that today. Took some extra paneling I had from a barn addition (left over) and made two walls, covered both sides with insulation between to help cut the noise, added a top constructed the same way. Four screws hold the two sides, and two screws hold the top on. Easy access if I need too. The best part is I don't have to worry about anything stored down there hitting the flimsy wall that was supplied. Spiderbobr, on your shocks under the bed, how far are they mounted from the rear? I'm installing 2 new ones this weekend but don't know where to measure from. I know they need to be out beyond the hinged but don't know how far. My 169vrk didn't come with struts and I have a3" memory topper onto of the factory mattress. I bought 100lb struts to install.

Earl, the pivot point of the bottom anchor is at 19 ½" from the very front of the bottom structure or 14" from the back 1 x 2. The top will be determined by the length of the shock and height you want it to go to. Don't forget to add an appropriate length for the mount under the bed platform. Here are some pictures. Also, slightly angle both the top attachment slightly inward so as to miss the style that you are attaching the bottom pivot too. On mine the pivot point for the top side is 7" from the front of the bed platform

Does that look like the right measurements?

Yes, but if you are using 100lb the measurements may have to be different.
