i'm a first time rv buyer. Looking to purchase in the next year. Came across Venture. I really like the bunkhouse layout. REALLY like the King U sofa in place of the dinette and sofa. There does not appear to be an option for the King U for the SR281VBH. What is the difference between the stratus SR281VBH and the Sporttrek ST270VBH (or ST281VBH other than door location and a few inches in length? The big question is if the KING U will fit in the Stratus SR281VBH. Thanks.

Welcome to the VFF! Great to see you here. You have found the Golden Question when looking at which RV to purchase. It can be daunting for sure. As you are finding there are a myriad of choices, non- choices as far as differing models even by the same builder. It is tough to narrow down the differences between the similar models like Stratus and Sporttrek( with Sporttrek it takes comparing the details between the Sporttrek and Sporttrek Touring models to figure out what works best as the customer). It takes a deep dive in research to sift out to get what you like best in each model line with similar size and layouts. Then it may be possible change it, with self-modification or professional RV techs, to get the right combination. You almost have to make your own chart to see the differences item by item. That is where this Venture Forum really shines. The members and guests here can help with choice, modifications and improvements.

Every RV we ever purchased we did an Excel spread sheet and listed possible contenders. Most of mine research I did on "RVTrader" you can turn on filters for nation-wide because right now you just want to see all the different types, brands and sizes. My wife said as he is not going camping unless she has a separate shower and toilet, a walk around queen bed In your search you have to decide what weight limitation you have with your tow vehicle. If your tow vehicle can only pull 10,000lbs safety then you can filter on weight of rv. If you don't have a tow vehicle yet it is best to wait to see what rv you decide on. Some people buy a truck and then decide on a RV that exceeds the weight limited on the tow vehicle and noe have to upgrade their tow vehicle. So yes there are plenty of filter to narrow your search. When we found something that meet our requirements we printed a spec sheet and added the info to our Excel spread sheet, with black, fresh and gray tank size, single axle or dual axle, type of fridge and we included hitch cabinets. We ended up with about 10 RV's and then we started the process of elimination until we it the list down to 2 or 3 RV's. Then with the 2 or 3 choices we would only then go physically look at them and do a walk thru. Our process took a few hours everyday and months to decide on the best rv for us. We have had the medium size travel trailers, 5th wheels and class A motorhomes.
