What size or pound support struts do you have under your bed? I want to install struts under my bed to hold it. Sure I could use a stick but trying avoid getting sown on all four and letting the heavy weight. We have a 3" memory foam onto of factory mattress.

Earl, this is the info on mine. Looks like 70lbs, there is also a number for reference and there are two of them.

Thanks, I wonder why my 2022 didn't have struts. maybe the factory forgot to install them.

If the factory doesn't have the part during assembly, they just keep going. They leave it to the dealer that purchases the item to sell. And of course the dealer doesn't say anything unless the customer does, they pretty much bet that the customer would not even know. It's a sad state of affairs.

I would go with at least 90 lbs. The 70s are not strong enough to hold up our bed with the 3" mattress topper on it.

When installing them, they should come with the metal angle that attaches to the top rail. But, make sure that the ¾" wood batten is also where you attach the strut too the top rail. Note the upright just under the strut mount. Attachments:

Earl, I don't know whom you are asking that question to, Bobw, already mentioned he had a 3", but I have none. The mattress works for us as is.

Ok, instead of waiting on Venture to determine they forgot to install the struts I bought a pair on Amazon for $25. They are rated at a 100lbs I will start there. If they are to strong and the bed won't Atay down I will replace with 90lbs and go from there. My plan is to pick uo the trailer tomorrow and start the installation before our trip coming on Monday morning.

Ok I started the installation and ran into a problem. The struts I have isn't the silver rod suppose to push inside the black cylinder when closed? I tried putting all my physical weight on the strut thing to push the silver rod into the black cylinder and can't. Are they lock and you need to unscrew something?

Yes it should, but you said you are using 100lb pressure struts, you should really start from the low side and work up. You only have ½" ply for the top, if it's going to take 100 lbs on each side to lower the hinged area down, you could start warping the top if your load is not even. The top is going to want to rise quite strongly (is that a word) if you don't have that much weight on top. As to why it is not pushing in, I'm guessing the strut is just fine, but you are pushing on a small area. Attach it to a piece of plywood on either end and try using force that way, if you can't get it to work that way then I would suspect something is array.

I weighed the edge of the bed top plywood with mattress and topper. I placed sick at the foot of it and place a scale in between the bed foundation and upper top and the weight was only 22lbs. I'm kinda at a lost. I went to see a new 2022 169VRk just like mine with the same mattress minus the 2" merry topper and the struts were 80lbs. I can physical life the whole thing up with one arm but and only hold there for 10 seconds (I'm weak).

That poundage measurement is taken directly over/under the cylinder. As is being used in the cover, it is at an angle, so the measurement will be different and I don't remember the formula for that. The weight you put over the top at an angle is figured with that formula.
