Propane refrigerators have always gotten a bad wrap. They work really good if you maintain and adjust them properly. Yes the older ones had some fires but now the newer ones have multi heat sensors at top and bottom of fridge to detect any extreme heat and then they will shut down. This propane fridges operate around 250 degrees with the chemical reaction. If the chemicals get clod up they can heat up over 1000 degrees and catch on fire. Most of the fires were a tribute to insulation falling down in between the fridge and closed off the air circulation. To many people operate their fridge without the trailer being level. Any RV with a propane fridge must be level within 3 degrees from side to side and 6 degrees from nose to rear, anything more will cause the fridge to over heat. Many times I see someone with their trailer in the home driveway so they can load up over the coarse of 1 or 2 day and the trailer is not level while they are getting the fridge cold. They figure they don't really need to level the trailer because they are just loading and not camping, WRONG, level your trailer any time you are operating the propane side of your trailer. Some people have electrical outlet and run their fridge on electric and thats fine. Real Estate people say "Location Location Location" RV people should be saying "Maintenance Maintenance Maintenance". Be safe!
