We just picked up a 2017 Venture Sonic VRB168 and love it. It tows like a dream behind our 2016 VW Touareg VR6 Congratulation on your new to you rig. We had a 1st generation Touareg V8 and pulled our boats with it. It was a great rig .enjoy.

HELLO ALL!
Marcia and I (Jim) just purchased our very first RV. A 2016 Sonic 190VRB. We thought we got a good deal, but time will tell. Purchasing from the original owner, they indicated that they never checked bearings, brakes, AC, roof in the last 4 yrs of ownership. So we towed it from St. Louis to our farm. The unit is now safely tucked in the barn. We have already completed the winterizing and I have a list of things to accomplish before next spring. We hope that joining the forum will help us with questions, recommendations and hopefully meet forum folks at campgrounds next year.

Welcome to the Forum! Congrats on your new to you rig. Amazing that the first owner wasn't very observant about checking over the rig. If they had no problems in 4 years , they were pretty lucky. For all the complaints you hear on Ventures, you don't hear as much from the vast majority of owners that haven't had any. Considering the large number of models and versions of them ,things do happen ,just like any product. Now that you have the Sonic, you can pickup the ball and make sure that it is good for you and your family to use. Especially good for you is that it inside and you can work on your projects at your leisure. That makes it easier to work on for sure. For me it is usually fun and rewarding to personalize my rig . Wishing you Happy Adventures with your Sonic.

Good morning and thanks for the add. Hubby (Chuck) and I (Milissa) are fairly new to TT camping. He camped in tents and pop ups as a kid, while I never camped at all. I consider myself to be more of a “glamper”. 2 years ago, we got our feet wet with a Jayco 26BHW. It was very basic. No slide, small interior, and fairly open floor plan. At the time we pulling it with a GMC Yukon. Forward 2 years........New tow vehicle (Ford F150 Ecoboost and full towing package) I need more room and we discovered what we liked and what we didn’t like. TODAY, we are taking possession of a Sporttrek Touring 343VIK. I saw the floor plan on our local dealer’s website here in Richmond, Va and it checked ALL the boxes for the things we wanted in our “next camper”. We still consider ourselves newbies and have made many mistakes in the last couple of years (chocks are always the last thing removed!) so I don’t know if we can contribute much to the collective knowledge of the forum, but we are glad to add our .02.

Hey blumoon welcome to the fold here from the NW.Considering your prior experience rving, you don't really sound like newbies. All the times you've had will come in handy with your new rig. Heck the new part is getting acquainted wth your likes, dislikes, and needs and wants in your new rig. Welcome and good luck to your future "ad"Venture. Happy Trails hopefully for all of is in 2021.

What is your experience towing? Do you have the 2.7 or 3.5 engine? How's the gas mileage? At what MPH do you tow? I have a 2020 F-150 with Max Tow Package. I calculated on paper I could tow the 343VIK, however I'd be close to the F-150's tow capability.

I calculated on paper I could tow the 343VIK, however I'd be close to the F-150's tow capability. Hi! We HAD the 3.5 eco boost. Gas mileage was great (avg 16mpg) but we could not go over 50mph without it starting to really get “floaty” in the front end. The tongue weight of the 343VIK was just too much for the F150. We had too much squat and it was not a pleasurable towing experience. The truck definitely had the ability to pull and stop, but in the end, was just not enough truck. Our payload was only 1800 and we were using 1150 just for TW. We upgraded to the F250 6.2 and it is a whole new experience. Tows great, truck feels more planted, and with a payload of over 3000, we are not stressing about what we put in the truck.
