So I've decided to change out the existing Solara Awning with a new one, as the existing one has split a seam.
According to Lippert, whom makes the awning that I have, I should tie off the arms about a foot out from the sidewall, then detach the roller and slide it out of its track. This means two to three persons helping of course. But I'm thinking instead of sliding the rolled up awning and tube out and carefully removing the cord in the track on the side wall, why not remove the tube as they suggest, but let it down to the ground at that time (instead of moving tube and material out of track on side wall) one that is done, you could feed the material out of the side wall track. It will be trash as it is.
When reinstalling new material, start by putting the material in the wall track. AT this point the material will be hanging down from top of TT to ground. Now you could add the roller at the bottom, again sliding that cord into the tube track. Once that is done at least two people could start rolling the new material onto the roller and yes, you would be climbing a ladder on both sides until it is rolled up to the attachment arms and now reattaching the roller to the arms.
That is my thought does anyone see anything wrong with this idea?
The instructions that come with the roller are as follows, of which I came up with the above so two people can do it. I'm thinking my way would be easier. Am I wrong? Please some of your thoughts.
extend awning 12" secure heads
take roll tube off (entirely) slide out wall track (three people)
unroll fabric from roll on ground
detach fabric from roll tube
prep fabric track for install
roll new awning fabric onto the roll tube
reinstall roll tube sliding cord into wall track from one end or the other (three people)
test finished job
