Should there be a breather line not connected to anything? If so: should it be open or closed? We had water come into the bedroom overnight. When we opened that access panel, there is a hose with no connection that was open. Thanks

A picture would be helpful so people can see what you are talking about. I assume that you have already looked for a connector that has no hose connected to it.

Welcome to the Forum from South Carolina. There's an open suction hose at the water pump intake. The suction hose valve should be closed for normal operations. That open hose is used for adding anti-freeze to the water system, or for blowing out the water pump, for winterization.
