All I can say is WOW! Beginning of last week I received a call from KZ RV. In case you don't know KZ is the parent company of Venture RV. They were very nice, the lady I talked to said that they were having issues with their front window on some Travel Trailers and that she was "sending" to my home a new window. Now this is a first, having a part at their discretion being sent directly to me without even asking. Anyway, she told me to make an appointment with a KZ dealer to get it installed free of charge. So I made an appointment with my dealer not for a month, but that to be expected and they too were totally surprised that the manufacture was sending me the glass. Mind you this is not a small window. They (my dealer) just asked me to take pictures when it comes, check it over really well. OK, so now we advance to today, this morning. I went out to my trailer to check out the window, walked in front and it all looks just fine. I go inside, open the slide, raise the blind on the window and yep there is a crack from top to bottom and chunks of glass coming out along the bottom edge. Makes you wonder how long they knew about this. I got to say, whatever the case, they are really on the ball about this. I still can't believe that KZ contacted me, and got the ball rolling. Kudos to them. I don't know what models are being effected by this recall, but take a look at your windows. I'm not sure it is even being called a "recall" as yet.

A new update is in store, got a text from the dealer, they started working on the window replacement, this last Friday. Got the broken window out, cleaned everything up went to get the new window to install, set it in the opening, and low and behold, the hole for the window grew bigger by 3" OK, a gap of 3" so the window sent, is the wrong size. Can't do anything until tomorrow, Monday and they will contact KZ for the next step in this process. I hope it goes quickly, but I'm ready for the long haul as well. What you think they will do? I figure they could add a plug or get a new window if they have one made already. Time will tell. Im OK with the plug idea, as it would be under the overlap of the outside window by several inches anyway. When I say outside, there are two layers of window the outside is larger than the inside. This is where they do all the sealing. In the picture below you can see how much larger the outside is than the inside shown in an earlier post.

OK, so I found out some new information, the space the seems to have a 2" space in it, well it is suppose to have that space. The windows needs to be centered in the existing opening and with attaching the retaining ring in a proper order closes that area to to meet the retaining ring making a tight seal but....leaving a forgiving area around the window for movement. An interesting concept for installing windows like this. My window is installed and to top it off it got a 2 hour rain test (they subject the front end to a continuous "manmade rain" to make sure it is water tight. It passed. Thank you KZ and the guys at the dealer service center as that did the work. My figuring about the plug was entirely in the wrong direction. No plugs. just a correct installation.

Hi there! Same thing happened to our front window last winter! Trailer was sitting stored for the winter and when we made a walk thru in February we noticed a crack & chips of glass breaking away (all on the inside glass). Dealership here in Selkirk, Manitoba was super! The unit was only 6 months old so they ordered a new window (covered by warranty) and we had it installed in the early spring. All is good! Now if someone could just tell us how to keep the condensation off the front window in the cooler spring & fall temps ….. plus our heads get cold!! We put bubble wrap in the outside of the window at night and also in the inside! Sure wish that window wasn’t there - it’s pretty useless as during the day it’s hidden behind the Murphy Bed.🤷🏼♀️

Manitob, I had read somewhere (don't remember right now) that KZ at the request of the owner actually had the window area filled. I do remember it was done at the KZ plant. So there is the possibility that you could have that done if so desired. They filled and put a new section of skin with the seem being just above the window and the same material down from there. Don't quote me, but I think the price was just around $4,500, when finished.
