This past (Labor Day) weekend, my 2022 STT272VRK Gray Water tanks stopped draining via the waste water hose connection; this discovery was made when I realized that my feet were standing in water while showering. A quick survey showed that the bathroom sink was also backed up. The TT has full hookups (electric, water, sewage) at a seasonal campground and there has been no issues all summer.
My first thought was that the Gray Drain valve was closed, and, indeed it was, inasmuch as I forgot to reopen it after recently coming back from a week-long dry camping trip. The drain valve worked fine at the state campground dumping station prior to departure back to the seasonal site. However when I pulled the Gray Water dump valve handle this time, no waste water discharged.
After first examining the hose connection for a blockage (there was none), I slowly pulled the gray water valve open without the hose and discovered that no waste water was being discharged. Using a flashlight I checked the pipe for any blockage and there was none.
In contrast, the separate Black Water Drain valve and hose connection work properly. Also, there happens to be another Gray Water drain valve that is connected to the Black Water discharge pipe that permits draining of shower and bathroom sink water directly to discharge rather than going to the Gray water tanks. I opened that second Gray Water valve and the backed up water in the shower and sink drained out (the only good news in all of this). This, however, as expected, did nothing to alleviate the holding tanks.
I’m suspecting that either the main Gray Water valve broke while traveling back from the camp trip or somehow some type of debris in one of the tanks has clogged the common discharge pipe to both tanks (for the life of me I can't imagine anything large going down any sink to cause this). Unfortunately, the bottom of the TT is sealed so I can't see much looking underneath.
I’m afraid that I have a trip to the dealer coming up in the near future where the TT can be put up on a lift.
BTW, even though the Forum has me listed as a "Newbie RVer", I am anything but that. This my 3rd TT and I do have some clue about what I am doing. Incidentally, the monitor panel lights show both tanks being full, which makes sense since we were using the trailer all weekend with the drain valves closed.
Just wondering if anyone has had this rather unusual experience, and if so, what was the issue.
