We live in Ontario Canada and of course we get winter and our trailer will be out in the elements. I have heard mixed reviews on trailer covers, what are your thoughts?
If you have a trailer cover, did you get from Venture or somewhere else if so where. We have a SportTrek ST251VFK.

This is the cover we have now, ordered from National Covers. It has zippered panels to access the camper while covered.
Order Details (1) National Expedition Travel Trailer Covers - Fits 17' Long 222" L x 102" W x 104" H Color: Gray 30 DAY FIT GUARANTEE FREE Expedition Storage Bag FREE Strap Kit and Toss Bag FREE Ladder Cap and Patch Kit
Avoid "Leader Accessories" covers. Conveniently, when the cover was still under the two-year warranty, they could not find my order number because I ordered it through Amazon and the Amazon order number wasn't good enough. Their "coating" was flaking was off, the cover was turning to powder, and I could poke a hole in it with a finger. Polypropylene has terrible UV resistance.

I highly recommend an rv cover for both summer and winter when it’s parked for periods of time. My cover is an ADCO brand and I r ordered it long enough to cover the hitch as well. This is my second year using it and I’m very pleased. I bought it from the rv dealer and probably paid too much. Stephen

I attended a seminar on winterizing at the dealer shortly after I purchased my trailer and they didn't think there was a need for a cover. He said maybe if you were storing under a tree or had something else that would make a mess to get one. One thing he did say was never use the blue vinyl tarps. He said they had a customer storing their trailer on the lot with a tarp, when the customer opened trailer in the spring they had green floors which they didn't have when they closed it up, all kinds of things were growing.

He said they had a customer storing their trailer on the lot with a tarp, when the customer opened trailer in the spring they had green floors which they didn't have when they closed it up, all kinds of things were growing. An old mechanic thought: The dealer probably wants to sell you another camper sooner, than a cover now. I know covers are a pain to put on and take off. It would be easy to let the camper just sit there, but nature works 24/7 to reclaim everything. Sun will destroy plastic AC covers, vent caps, trim screw moldings, window seals, etc. Water is insidious about finding its way past seals and caulking. Covers have to be vented to allow air flow to move the moisture away from the camper. I allow the cover to billow some in the wind to help pump air around it. The cover keeps the fine dirt from wind carried debris, insects, leaves, bird crap, snow, rain, etc. from filling in gaps and holding water. If you've ever dug around a window seal, the dirt that comes out is usually damp. You can tell at the campground which campers are stored covered or inside. Campers stored in the open uncovered are usually covered with dark streaks (that fine dirt). I've thought about building a shed to put the camper under, but not sure how long this life phase will last. When it changes, I'm then stuck with a building to maintain and continue to pay taxes and insurance on. If I build a shed, what if I build it too small, if we change campers? So, if this life phase last 20 years, at 3 years per cover, that's about 7 covers @ $500 per cover. $3,500 is a lot less than a shed for any size camper.

Thank You, everyone, for your informed answers. We have decided to get a cover after reading your answers as we do have a tree close to the trailer and being that winter here in Ontario, Canada can be a bad mix could be rain, snow, freezing rain, or whatever. Thank you again!

Trailer cover was suggested and we got it done. I feel some relief that we did purchase a cover as the more I walked our park seen more trailer covered. Here are some pictures took two of us start to finish 40 min. We do have lot's of wind as we are at top of hill.

I was surprised by the lifetime warranty when it is made of Polypropylene, which has terrible UV resistance. We're lucky to get 2 or 3 years out of one. Let us know how long it last.

Trailer cover update, we have had some nasty winds and freezing rain. The trailer cover has worked amazing protecting the trailer. I did a full inspection over the weekend and all secure and no rips or tears. The trailer is dry underneath and it was raining at the time as the vents were letting it vent properly. No snow yet and I will let you know how that goes. Oh yes we did have a couple of small branches fall and no damage to cover or trailer of course.
