This is a unique campground, in a convenient location. On the right coming into the campground are field campsites. To the left, are the patio sites (where we stayed), where you pull the camper by a patio on a hillside, that overlooks the field campers. Above those, are the campsites in the hills. Most campsites have power, water, cable, and sewer. Host were great, friendly, and Floridians. Across the street is Lake Junaluska. It has the Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center, paddling, walking trails, geocaching, etc. Campground is close to Maggie Valley, Waynesville, and Canton. We tried to go to Clingman's Dome Wednesday, but traffic shutdown 1.2 miles from the parking area. It had snowed there the night before. A three-point turn got us heading back toward civilization.

We’re in that area a lot as our youngest attends Western Carolina University, not far from there. I’ve tried to stay there but haven’t found a way to book online. Did you have to call or is my Google acting up? We usually are horrible about making last minute plans and often the offices for camps are closed.

You have to call to reserve a site. It's hit or miss finding a site because of the popularity. They close for the winter, at the end of November, I think.
Ever visit Judaculla Rock? Looks like an interesting side trip.

Yes, our son’s roommate is an anthropology major so we were sure to take them out to see it. The wife and I found the rock on our second attempt— the signs after you get off 107 aren’t that great. It’s a cool place and there are plenty of interpretive signs about the rock.
