The bubble seal across the top of the entertainment/dinette slide keeps breaking loose and bunching up on the right side by the door. It was fixed by the dealer when it arrived from the factory and again 6 months later. Anyone else having the same problem? If so how did you fix it? KZ says it’s beyond the warranty and won’t do anything even though it’s an ongoing problem. I had a 2019 model that had the same problem and traded it in for the newer one hoping it wasn’t going to happen again. So now I’ve got a very expensive trailer that keeps needing a repair. What does the other side look like? Is there a screw or a crimp that holds the seal in place? Does it move during deployment, while retracting, or while stored? Does the slide retract evenly? What did the dealer do to fix?

It happens when traveling. The dealer replaced the seal. All that holds it in place is a set screw put through the plastic back of the seal into the fiberglass on each end. When they replaced it they also put some sort of black urethane across the top. They said with the urethane it wouldn’t break loose again. Well it still did. The slide is aligned squarely across the top. So I have no clue why this keeps happening. I’m just wondering if there’s anyone else out there having the same problem…………

Interesting. Sounds like a lot of frame movement and some racking of the slide opening while towing. Could put a GoPro on the camper looking at the seal end. This may show the dealer and manufacture the cause of the movement and force them to address the root cause and not a symptom.

I was kinda thinking along the same lines. My thoughts are to use tape and make some sort of setup with a pen or marker that would chart the movement like a seismograph. Unfortunately here in PA it’s time to put the trailer away for the winter and I won’t be able to mess with it until next spring.

The more I think about it, there could be broke frame welds, missing fasteners, failing materials, bad glue joints, etc. allowing all the flexing. Make sure to get it fixed while under warranty.

I hope I fixed the problem before I put it away for the winter. I found a metal strip in my junk collection that’s shown in the attached picture. It was something from some sort of over the door towel rack or shoe holder. Anyhow I drilled matching holes for each of the barbs in the back of the seal, slid the barbs in the holes and then bent them over. Then drilled a hole through the end aligned with the original set hole. I used a washer and put the set screw through the seal and metal strip. Also for some unknown reason the manufacturer puts some sort of really nasty sticky tape on the inside corners of the side frame. I’m assuming the sun has caused it to get soft and stick to the seal. I used enamel reducer and cleaned it up and trimmed away the tape where it rubbed against the seal. I was surprised how easily the reducer melted the sticky stuff and didn’t cause any damage. Also cleaned the sticky stuff that was on the seal. We’ll see next year if this works………
