We had to take the trailer back in for a leak that was coming in through the front window. I’m being quoted 2 hours of labor (1/2 hr diagnosis, 1 1/2 hour for the sealing. Their rate is $189/hour. Does this all sound like a “normal” rate?

I try to research and do my own repairs. I learn something on every job, even if it's "I don't want to do that again". Sometimes it's as simple as a small tube of flowable silicone to fix a leak. There's a difference between labor rate and shop rates. The RV techs doing the work are probably making less than $25 per hour. Shop rates have to cover tech labor, office help, power, lighting, building maintenance, heating, cooling, water, shipping, and all the other hidden cost to maintain a place for work to be accomplished. Labor and shop rates will depend on location, also. Per: axleaddict.com/rvs/How-Much-Does-It-Cost-To-Repair-An-RVAverage Labor Costs for RV Repairs If you take your unit to a big dealership for repairs, you'll pay a minimum of $129 per hour, but this price can rise to as much as $189 per hour if you own an expensive rig. Some dealerships have the attitude that if you can afford to pay several hundred thousand dollars for a coach, you can afford whatever they want to charge to repair it! Smaller sellers will charge as little as $65 per hour, so if you shop around, you can easily reduce your labor costs. Some will give you a break and instead of charging by the hour, will offer you a flat rate per job. If you can get them to do this, you'll save a bundle.

This was just generated by AI and sent to me by Bing.
According to a source, the average labor cost for RV repairs is $129 per hour at big dealerships. However, this price can rise to as much as $189 per hour if you own an expensive rig. Smaller sellers will charge as little as $65 per hour. Some sellers will offer a flat rate per job instead of charging by the hour, which can save you money.
If you’re looking for mobile RV repair services, the average labor rate is $140 per hour. For warranty and insurance claims, the average labor rate is $170 per hour.
It’s important to note that the cost of repairing an RV can be quite expensive, and it’s advisable to learn about potential costs before purchasing an RV. Repairs are constant and can add up quickly, so it’s important to shop around and find the best deal possible.
I hope this information helps!

I was talking to the dealer I go to and he tells me rates by this coming summer will hover around the 200 mark per hour, and this includes my trailer which mind you is not any exclusive RV.

So it sounds like $189/hour is in line with what they told you. Thanks

Yes, but shop around as mentioned you should be able to find independent shops for much less. Or, learn to do it at home.

You should try elevator repair. $510/hr normal hours and $1,020/hr outside normal hours because in most places the single elevator repair company within 200 miles has the monopoly.

Ours only came with stairs. I didn’t even know an elevator was an option, but I’ll keep an eye out if we upgrade. ;-) Jim

My brother (in arms) is ADA, and has one set up on his trailer to get him onboard. And......it cost him an arm and a leg, ok I should not make fun of him, but we do that to each other all the time.
