I did a search for "Drinking Water" and only found a couple posts regarding how folks deal with drinking water. My wife and I are getting ready to purchase our 2nd camper after being out of it for 12 years and honestly, we did not camp much - hence selling the first. I would like to hear from all of you Knowledgeable Experts ;^} on what you do for drinking water. Do you carry gallon jugs of drinking water for cooking and drinking? Do you sanitize your fresh water tank and drink from the faucet? Do you drink from the City water connection with a filter attached? or a combination of the above?
We are about 2 weeds from our purchase once we have it inspected and are starting to place items in our shopping cart at Walmart so that I can review those prices against the Dealer Stores which I assume will be higher.
We are trying to make a list of the necessities we will need, beside personal stuff and kitchen items, to outfit our camper. Will take suggestions on that as well..
Yes, we are reviewing other sites. Just picking brains where we can. This is a big jump for us really.

Welcome to the Forum from South Carolina. We usually carry about 4 gallons of fresh water, in an Igloo water dispenser, for coffee, tea, or other cooking uses. That's enough for a week. We connect to "city" water (filtered and pressure regulated) for the shower and toilet, when available. The freshwater tank is sanitized every year and I keep about 10 gallons in it. It can be used, but is usually just used for the toilet, on the road.

Welcome to the site. Like wrkrBee we use city water when we can as well. But we only use a 5 gallon water jugs for drinking. And if we are going to camp without city water. We fill the storage tanks for like he said the toilet and the regular sink duties. But we always use a fresh 5 gallon water jug for drinking .

Welcome, we use bottled water (gallons) for drinking. We both drink a lot of water so it just made sense to us, wreather than drinking city water from different sources. We hook up to the city water for all other purposes. Yes, I sanitize the tank twice a year, and use that water when traveling on the road. We travel with two large dogs, they get the same treatment as us as we spoil them. I'm sure we overdue it with the water issue, but have been doing it that way for over 50 years.
